THE METAL DETECTOR RESOURCE
The Metal Detector Resource was created to help Contra Costa County Law Enforcement Agencies search crime scenes for metallic evidence. Often times, finding a piece of a bullet involved in a crime scene can make the difference between a conviction and acquittal.

The Metal Detector Resource has been asked to locate and recover shell casings, bullet fragments and bullets, firearms and buried evidence.
We often work as a team in conjunction with searchers, divers and canines, with each Resource adding to and complementing the others skill sets.
Membership Requirements:
To participate in the Metal Detector Resource, members must complete the SAR type 3 academy. This resource is open to all SAR team members in good standing.
Equipment Required:
All metal detection equipment needed for searching is provided by the Resource. Many members choose to purchase their own equipment but it is not a requirement.
The Metal Detector Resource trains once a month as a group the last Monday of the month.
Members of the Metal Detector Resource are expected to meet the ongoing resource training and continuing education requirements. In addition, members must regularly participate in SAR team functions outside of the Metal Detector Resource to remain in good standing.
