Advanced SAR
In 1998, the SAR team implemented an Advanced SAR training session. The
class will be offered four times during the year, and all team members must
attend one of the classes. The full day class covers
- A map and compass lecture and field exercise,
- A low angle rescue field exercise,
- A practical review of airways and the team's oxgen equipment, and
- A review of team policies

During the field portion of the navigation session, a team member demonstrates
that while the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, there
are often quicker ways to go.
Back at the low angle exercise, team members review some knots.
