1996 Mock Search #4
The final full-team training was held in October in Mt. Diablo
State Park near Curry Point. The scenario involved several school-aged
children who had not returned from a day hike in the area. In
addition to locating the missing hikers, the searchers had to
contend with a staged suicide which had be treated as a crime
scene. Search and rescue team members were also called to assist
with two real incidents nearby: a single-bicycle
accident on the entrance road to the park and a climbing fall
at nearby Rock City.
The command post was the tailgate of a pickup truck and the front
of the team van parked at Curry Point.
Here an air scent dog and handler have made a find. The handler checks the subject's
condition and radios back to the command post for assistance while the dog waits
patiently nearby
A volunteer subject, complete with make-up and props, waiting to be
found by search teams
Two search teams have located the subject and begin a patient assessment
One of the team members checks the patient's vital signs while other members radio for additional equipment to package the patient for carry out and scout the best route back to the trail.
Equipment and litters are lashed to the roof of the Power Wagon, as everyone gets ready to call it a day!
